SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. Our mission is to reduce work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses by ensuring workplaces comply with health and safety laws. We achieve this through a mix of responsive and proactive programs targeting high-risk areas across all industries, aligned with our strategic plan and regulatory priorities.
Join SafeWork NSW in a pivotal role leading the organisation's climate risk and sustainability program. You will drive the development and implementation of strategies that strengthen organisational resilience, embed climate-related considerations into business planning and decision-making, and ensure compliance with legislative and reporting obligations. Working collaboratively across the agency and with key external stakeholders, you will provide expert advice, build organisational capability, and help position SafeWork NSW to effectively respond to climate-related risks and opportunities while supporting long-term strategic outcomes.

You bring demonstrated experience in climate risk, sustainability, climate adaptation, environmental management, governance or a related discipline. You have a strong understanding of climate-related legislation, frameworks, policy and reporting requirements, and can help organisations navigate evolving expectations while delivering meaningful business outcomes.
You are confident working across a complex organisation and partnering with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives. You build trusted relationships quickly, influence effectively without relying on authority, and can bring people together around a shared objective. You understand that sustainable change is achieved not just through frameworks and reporting, but by building capability, embedding new ways of thinking and supporting others to make informed decisions.
You are an excellent communicator with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You can assess emerging risks and opportunities, develop practical recommendations and provide high-quality advice to senior leaders. You have experience leading projects or improvement initiatives, establishing governance arrangements and delivering outcomes in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Most importantly, you are motivated by the opportunity to make a genuine impact. You enjoy tackling complex and emerging challenges, driving organisational improvement and helping build a more resilient and sustainable future.
