Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Melbourne CBD seeks a Senior Client Consultant Lawyer to join the Client Intake team. You will conduct initial client appointments, assess matter viability and determine whether we can act, providing accurate early legal advice.

You will manage the Legal Cost Agreement process for viable matters, hand the client over to the Legal Practice, and support training for junior lawyers while building strong relationships with stakeholders and improving client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience in personal injury in a similar or relevant environment.
• Strong legal knowledge relevant to personal injury practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated client care and relationship management capability.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Client Consultant Lawyer to join our Client Intake team in Melbourne CBD.
You will conduct first client appointments with potential personal injury clients, assess matter viability, provide accurate initial legal advice and determine whether Slater and Gordon can act.

For viable matters, you will offer and manage the Legal Cost Agreement through to return before handing the client over to the Legal Practice. For non-viable matters, you will provide appropriate advice and screen out the enquiry.

As a senior member of Client Intake, you will also support team engagement, contribute to training and development for junior lawyers, build strong relationships with Legal Practice stakeholders and identify opportunities to improve processes and client outcomes.

What we are looking for

You are someone who:

• Brings strong personal injury legal knowledge and sound judgement.
• Is motivated by client impact and social justice.
• Builds trust through active listening, effective questioning and clear communication.
• Can assess matter viability from both a legal and business perspective.
• Works collaboratively with clients, Legal Practice teams and shared services.
• Is proactive, organised and able to work autonomously.
• Is committed to supporting and mentoring junior lawyers.
• Is open to testing new techniques and using technology to improve processes and client outcomes.

What you will bring

You will bring:

• At least five years’ experience in personal injury in a similar or relevant environment.
• Strong legal knowledge relevant to personal injury practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated client care and relationship management capability.
• Experience independently managing a personal injury file load, personal injury litigation, or mentoring junior lawyers will be highly regarded.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to use data to identify insights about client attendance, Legal Cost Agreement understanding and client feedback.
• Experience with practice management systems, Microsoft Office and Salesforce will be advantageous.
