Job summary

Coronado Global Resources Limited, at Curragh Mine in Blackwater, seeks an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural integrity programs and guide major projects from concept to execution.

You will mentor graduates, review designs for compliance with Australian Standards, and collaborate with operations to improve reliability and safety across the CHPP and mine infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with RPEQ registration in civil/structural.
• Experience in mining or heavy industry structural engineering.
• Experience delivering projects from concept to execution.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural integrity management program for CHPP and mine infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership for civil and structural engineering design, modifications and maintenance.
• Review and approve designs, calculations and consultant deliverables for compliance with Australian Standards and site specs.
• Develop scopes of work, engineering packages, cost estimates and repair methodologies.
• Support capital and operational projects through planning, execution and commissioning.
• Collaborate with planners, schedulers and maintenance to prioritize inspections and repairs.
• Champion Safety in Design principles and perform risk assessments.
• Provide technical support during shutdowns and major maintenance.
• Mentor and develop graduate and junior engineers.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our Engineering team at Curragh Mine. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the operation, solving complex engineering challenges and influencing the reliability and performance of a large-scale coal operation.

About the Role

As the Senior Structural Engineer, you will be the site's subject matter expert for structural engineering, providing technical guidance while leading structural integrity programs and engineering projects from concept through to execution.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the structural integrity management program for the CHPP and associated mine infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership for civil and structural engineering design, modifications and maintenance activities.
• Review and approve engineering designs, calculations and consultant deliverables to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, legislative requirements and site specifications.
• Develop scopes of work, engineering packages, cost estimates and repair methodologies for structural works.
• Support capital and operational projects through planning, execution and commissioning.
• Work closely with planners, schedulers and maintenance teams to prioritise structural inspections, repairs and improvement initiatives.
• Champion Safety in Design principles and provide technical risk assessments for structural works.
• Provide technical support during shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
• Mentor and develop graduate and junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and promoting engineering best practice.

About You

You are a collaborative engineer who enjoys working with operational teams and providing practical engineering solutions. You have strong technical capability, sound judgement and enjoy mentoring others while driving continuous improvement.

You'll also bring:

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with RPEQ registration in the civil and structural area.
• Structural engineering experience within mining, heavy industry or mineral processing.
• Experience managing structural integrity programs and fixed plant infrastructure.
• Experience in civil projects, defects repairs and construction methods.
• Demonstrated experience delivering engineering projects from concept through to execution.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
