Victoria Infrastructure Delivery Authority Roads is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Designer in Melbourne. The role focuses on delivering innovative civil design solutions for road infrastructure through concept to detailed design, including 2D/3D modelling, documentation, and calculations.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, coordinate packages, and ensure quality within time and budget constraints.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge delivering civil engineering design and drafting for road infrastructure.
• Extensive experience in planning, design and delivery of transport projects with DTP, Austroads standards.
• Knowledge of road drainage, surface water management, WSRD, flood impact assessment.
• Proficiency with digital engineering tools for design management (12D/Open Roads/MicroStation/AutoCAD).

VPS 6 – Senior Civil Engineering Designer

Hybrid working environment.

3 years maximum term,VPS 6 - $142,790 - $166,938+ super & benefits.

About the Role

1. Developing and delivering innovative, value-for-money civil engineering design solutions from concept through to detailed design, including complex 2D/3D modelling, construction documentation, reports and calculations for road infrastructure projects across road, drainage, pavements, earthworks, signage and line marking, traffic signals and related disciplines.

2. Leading and managing the design activities and processes and coordinate all design disciplines and packages required for the project ensuring the design documents are delivered with high quality, within project scope, timelines and budget, and in accordance with the relevant DTP, Austroads and industry standards, and projects requirements.

3. Developing and delivering stormwater management strategies and drainage designs in 12D for road infrastructure projects, including WSRD, computations, reports, flood impact investigations and mitigation solutions.

4. Providing senior technical leadership, direction and guidance to engineering and drafting staff, consultants and delivery partners to achieve agreed project outcomes.

5. Influence and collaborate with stakeholders, project teams, contractors, consultants and DTP representatives to resolve complex and competing design issues, drive integrated solutions and ensure safe, efficient and high-quality infrastructure outcomes are delivered in line with government, program and project priorities.

About You

The successful candidate will be someone that brings:

Strong technical knowledge and expertise in delivering civil engineering design and drafting, design management and multi-disciplinary coordination for roads infrastructure projects, including road and drainage design, pavements, traffic signals, drainage, utilities, integrated water management and flood impact assessment.

Extensive experience in civil engineering planning, design and delivery of transport infrastructure projects with various complexity, with sound knowledge of DTP, Austroads and industry standards, specifications and compliance requirements

Specific knowledge and expertise in the design of road drainage, surface water management, WSRD and flood impact assessment and mitigation.

Proficiency in the use of digital engineering tools and platforms required for design and management of road infrastructure projects (such as MicroStation, Open Roads, 12D, AutoCAD, ProjectWise or similar).

A relevant qualification in an Engineering or Science related discipline and Professional Engineering Registration (with BLA)

This opportunity is a 3-year maximum term.
