Job summary

Ark Energy is seeking an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership across civil and infrastructure aspects of renewable energy projects. This Brisbane-based role oversees external design consultants, ensures quality and constructability, and integrates civil work with electrical and BESS packages.

You will review feasibility through construction, mentor engineers, and contribute to design assurance and risk management across projects in multiple states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• At least seven years’ civil design experience across major infrastructure, renewable energy, mining or transport projects.
• Experience leading civil design teams and providing technical guidance to engineers.
• Strong experience managing external consultants and contractors.
• Chartered Engineer status or eligibility preferred.
• Membership with Engineers Australia or equivalent.
• Knowledge of project delivery models (EPC/EPCM).

Responsibilities

• Provide civil engineering expertise across roads, foundations, drainage, earthworks, site platforms and infrastructure.
• Review deliverables from feasibility through construction and handover.
• Coordinate and oversee external civil design consultants.
• Review drawings, calculations, specs, and reports for quality and constructability.
• Lead Safety in Design activities and address risks.
• Support feasibility studies, site assessments, concept design and option analysis.
• Define geotechnical investigation requirements and review reports.
• Support cost estimates, risk assessments and construction methodologies.
• Prepare and review scopes, specs and tender documentation.
• Assist in technical tender evaluations and contractor selection.
• Provide civil support during construction, including RFIs and design changes.
• Coordinate interfaces with electrical, BESS, and other packages.
• Mentor engineers and project team members.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of standards and review processes.
