Job summary

WSP Australia is seeking a Senior Civil Drafter (12D) in Adelaide to join our Water Utilities team. You will draft and model civil designs for essential water infrastructure, mentor junior staff, and contribute to digital engineering initiatives.

You'll work with engineers and designers across the project lifecycle, delivering plans, profiles, sections, earthworks models, and construction drawings. Hybrid work and national collaboration opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Civil Drafter or Senior Civil Drafter.
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior drafters is highly regarded.
• Experience with water authorities or utility clients is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality civil drafting and design documentation using 12D and AutoCAD for major water projects.
• Deliver detailed outputs: plans, profiles, cross-sections, earthworks models, and construction drawings.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support projects from concept through to detailed design and construction documentation.
• Review outputs and provide technical guidance to junior drafters.
• Coordinate drawing production to meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Contribute to drafting standards, workflows, and digital engineering improvements.
• Liaise with clients, surveyors, and project stakeholders as required.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare high-quality civil drafting and design documentation using 12D and AutoCAD for major water infrastructure and utilities projects.
• Deliver detailed design outputs including plans, profiles, cross-sections, earthworks models, and construction drawings.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams across the project lifecycle.
• Support projects from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction documentation.
• Review drafter outputs and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
• Coordinate drawing production to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to WSP's quality standards.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting standards, workflows, and digital engineering processes.
• Liaise with clients, surveyors, and project stakeholders as required.

About You

• Demonstrated experience as a Civil Drafter or Senior Civil Drafter, ideally within water, utilities, transport, or linear infrastructure projects.
• Advanced proficiency in 12D and AutoCAD, with strong technical drafting and modelling capabilities.
• Strong understanding of civil design principles, including earthworks, drainage, roads, pipelines, and utility infrastructure.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior drafters is highly regarded.
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering, Engineering Design Drafting, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working with water authorities or utility clients will be highly regarded.
