Job summary

Talent in Canberra is seeking a senior network specialist to join a high-profile federal government environment. This hands-on role supports and maintains a complex, secure multi-vendor network, with a focus on Cisco enterprise networking expertise.

You will work in a hybrid Canberra setting, contribute to BGP/MPLS/IPsec/QoS initiatives, manage security and monitoring tools, and translate business requirements into practical network capabilities while ensuring ISM compliance and NV2 readiness.

Qualifications

• Senior network professional with enterprise experience.
• Extensive Cisco networking expertise across WAN and LAN.
• Experience in multi-vendor environments (HPE, Cisco, Fortinet/Palo Alto).
• Experience administering secure networks compliant with ISM.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across Cisco, HPE, FortiGate, Palo Alto and Peplink environments.
• Administer and troubleshoot complex LAN, MAN and WAN environments.
• Support Cisco technologies including BGP, MPLS, IPsec, QoS and enterprise routing and switching.
• Manage and support network security technologies and services.
• Support virtualised networking environments.
• Manage carrier circuits and troubleshoot physical connectivity issues.
• Implement and administer network management and monitoring solutions including SNMP, Syslog, TACACS and NTP.
• Use automation tools to support the management of network and server infrastructure.
• Work with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical network capabilities.
• Support secure network environments aligned with the Australian Government ISM.
