PIPELINE PROTECT PTY LTD in Bibra Lake, WA, is seeking a Senior Cathodic Protection Technician to lead installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of CP and voltage mitigation systems on pipelines and related infrastructure.

This role combines hands-on field work with technical leadership, mentoring junior technicians, ensuring safety, compliance and high-quality workmanship across diverse projects in Western Australia.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in cathodic protection system installation and maintenance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of impressed current and sacrificial anode protection systems.
• Proficiency in conducting potential surveys, resistance measurements and other diagnostic testing procedures.
• Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards and international best practices in cathodic protection.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and system schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain cathodic protection and voltage mitigation systems on pipelines and associated infrastructure.
• Perform routine inspections, testing and diagnostics of existing cathodic protection systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide corrective solutions to maintain system integrity and effectiveness.
• Conduct potential surveys and data logging to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, project documentation and maintenance records.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Cathodic Protection Technician to join our dynamic team at our Bibra Lake, Western Australia facility on a full-time basis. This is a strategic technical leadership position that plays a vital role in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of cathodic protection and voltage mitigation systems for our extensive portfolio of clients. As a Senior Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of workmanship, safety compliance and technical excellence across all cathodic protection projects. You will mentor junior technicians, manage complex technical challenges and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of our service offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain cathodic protection and voltage mitigation systems on pipelines and associated infrastructure
• Perform routine inspections, testing and diagnostics of existing cathodic protection systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide corrective solutions to maintain system integrity and effectiveness
• Conduct potential surveys and data logging to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement
• Prepare detailed technical reports, project documentation and maintenance records

• Liaise with clients, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are exceeded
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety and environmental standards on all work sites
• Maintain and calibrate specialised testing equipment and tools
• Stay current with industry developments, emerging technologies and regulatory changes affecting cathodic protection systems

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in cathodic protection system installation and maintenance
• Comprehensive knowledge of impressed current and sacrificial anode protection systems
• Proficiency in conducting potential surveys, resistance measurements and other diagnostic testing procedures
• Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards and international best practices in cathodic protection
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and system schematics
• Proven supervisory or mentoring experience with junior technical staff
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex technical challenges
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders
• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to various work sites across Western Australia
• Relevant certifications such as cathodic protection technician credentials are highly desirable
• Desirable - Formal qualifications in electrical trade, electronics or related field, or equivalent demonstrated competency
• Ability to work well within a team environment
• Strong commitment to health and safety compliance and a proven safety track record
