Job summary

The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency invites an experienced practitioner to join our team in Victoria. The role will liaise with VACCA programs, Child Protection, external service providers and community organisations to develop plans and engage appropriate support for clients.

You will mentor staff, support the AFPR Response Team Leader, and contribute to a culturally respectful approach with Aboriginal young people and families. Some after-hours and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership and the ability to champion VACCA values.
• Awareness of Aboriginal cultures and commitment to cultural safety.
• Ability to work with Aboriginal young people and families in a respectful way.
• Understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal communities and families.
• Experience with strengths-based interventions and risk assessment frameworks.
• Qualification in Community Services or Social Work; substantial related experience.

Responsibilities

• liaise with VACCA programs, Child Protection and external providers to develop plans and support for clients.
• Mentor and support other team members and assist the AFPR Response Team Leader with duties.
• Occasional after hours and weekend work as required.
