Job summary

NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure invites applications for a Senior Business Development Advisor Venues and Partnerships in Sydney. You will lead a small team, manage venue enquiries and stakeholder relationships, and drive commercial and community outcomes across iconic Sydney destinations.

The role offers permanent full-time employment, a 35-hour week, and flexible working with an office on Harrington Street, The Rocks.

Qualifications

  • Experience in venue management, event management, arts and cultural events, hospitality or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and supporting teams, allocating work, developing capability and fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, government agencies, community groups, industry partners and service providers.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, oversee venue administration processes and respond effectively in a high-volume environment.
  • A customer-focused mindset, with the confidence to resolve issues, manage competing interests and deliver positive outcomes for a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Resilience, sound judgement and a proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and contribute to the successful delivery of commercial, cultural and community objectives

The role

Join the team responsible for activating some of Sydney’s most iconic destinations and help bring a diverse range of arts, cultural, community and commercial events to life. In this role, you’ll lead a small team managing venue enquiries, stakeholder relationships and venue hire and filming opportunities, while ensuring a high standard of customer service. You’ll work with a broad range of clients, partners and stakeholders to support venue and precincts activation, drive commercial outcomes and coordinate the administrative processes that underpin successful events and partnerships. This is a fast-paced role that requires balancing competing priorities, managing high enquiry volumes and building strong relationships with stakeholders who may have differing needs and objectives. What you will bring to the role

About Us

Placemaking NSW is responsible for managing and caring for some of Sydney’s most iconic harbourside venues and locations, including The Rocks, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour, Sydney Fish Market and White Bay Power Station. Our responsibilities include the full range of activities in our precincts, from major developments to heritage conservation, from delivery of Sydney’s hall mark events to weekly markets, making these areas welcoming, accessible and successful. Our team includes a wide range of professionals across multiple disciplines contributing to the coordinated management of the foreshore precincts.
