Job summary

The Department of Industry, Science and Resources is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support ICT projects across the CIO Division, including AI and emerging technology initiatives. You will facilitate workshops, map processes, and translate business needs into clear technical requirements and user stories to guide development teams.

Responsibilities include documenting BRDs, requirements specifications, and change management plans, while collaborating with stakeholders and technical experts

Qualifications

  • Experience facilitating workshops and translating diverse inputs into clear requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop user stories and acceptance criteria for dev teams.
  • Experience on complex digital projects in Agile environments with interdependencies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience documenting requirements for IT services and Office technologies.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for tracking user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 or Power Platform, Azure Cloud and Google Analytics is a plus.

The Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD) provides a range of enabling services and operations delivery to the department and to Australian businesses and is seeking experienced and motivated Business Analysts to assist with the delivery of various ICT Projects across the Division including artificial intelligence and emerging technology.

  • Experience in analysis and modelling of current and future business processes and information management environments
  • Analyse data related requirements, user pathways and information flows
  • Conduct stakeholder engagement activities, analyse customer and business requirements, and collaborate with technical specialists to develop fit for purpose solutions to business problems
  • Develop clear and concise documents including business requirements specifications, business cases, functional & non-functional specifications, process maps, user stories, service design artefacts, communication & change management plans, and reports
  • Conduct investigations and undertake technical research & analysis activities based on systems knowledge in alignment with departmental policies and legislations
  • Evaluate options for solutions (custom and configured) and translate business requirements into technical and functional requirements
  • Analyse proposed solutions from a strategic viewpoint considering the broad ranging benefits and impacts across the department and government as a whole
  • Experience working in Agile environment to develop requirements artefacts for complex IT systems including website development
Requirements
Criteria

  • Experience facilitating workshops and analysing complex information from a range of sources to generate a clear understanding of business and user needs, identify inefficiencies and improvements and translate these into technical specifications (e.g. business requirements, process maps, data models, use cases, business scenarios)
  • Experience in developing User Stories and acceptance criteria that clearly and succinctly specifies the information developers and testers require to deliver and test solutions
  • Experience working on complex digital projects in an Agile environment to account for interdependencies and support team workflows
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and presentation skills
  • Relevant experience in implementing Information Technology Services
  • Experience documenting requirements for Office technologies
  • Experience using Azure DevOps for user story creation and tracking of acceptance criteria
  • Experience or knowledge of Dynamics 365 or Power Platform, Azure Cloud and Google Analytics.
