Job summary

Busways is seeking an experienced Panel Beater/Body Builder for its Blacktown depot. You will assess damage, replace panels, weld and fabricate, and ensure OEM specifications are met while maintaining a clean, safe workshop.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement, with training provided and opportunities for career progression within a large Australian-owned bus operator.

Qualifications

• MVTC trade qualifications essential.
• Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology.
• Proven experience as a Body Builder/Panel Beater with larger vehicles.
• Experience in service and maintenance of vehicles (training provided).
• Strong knowledge of bus body construction repair techniques including welding and metalworking.
• Adherence to WHS regulations and company policies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in a team on daily maintenance and repairs.
• Proactive approach with drive for continuous improvement.
• Physically fit and willing to undergo medical checks and safety clearances.
• Australian citizen/permanent resident or unrestricted working rights; valid Australian driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Assess damage to bus body panels and structures and provide repair estimates.
• Remove and replace damaged panels, hoods, fenders using hand and power tools.
• Straighten and repair frame and body structures per OEM specifications; weld and fabricate as needed.
• Blend and finish repaired areas to prepare for painting with a smooth finish.
• Prepare and clean surfaces prior to painting (filing, grinding, sanding).
• Provide all body repairs and maintenance to vehicles as required; work on related components.
• Manufacture, service and fit components from multiple materials.
• Maintain clean workshop practices and safety standards.
• Record maintenance and repairs on designated forms and documents.
