Job summary

City of Playford Council is seeking an experienced Senior Development Officer (Building) through an Expressions of Interest process. The role leads expert building surveyors, provides guidance on complex compliance matters and supports enforcement activities to ensure safe, compliant development.

You will collaborate with builders, developers and internal teams, mentor staff and contribute to policy development while advancing professional practice within a growing city.

Qualifications

• This role requires senior expertise in building surveying, compliance and development services.
• Experience with complex legislative and regulatory environments is essential.
• Accreditation as Building Professional Level 1, 2 or 3 is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Providing expert advice on complex building and compliance matters
• Supporting enforcement activities and representing Council where required
• Undertaking commercial building inspections and Building Rules assessments
• Mentoring and guiding building surveyors within the team
• Supporting reporting, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives
• Working with builders, developers and internal teams to achieve practical outcomes
