Job summary

Aurecon is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Building Services based in North Sydney. You will lead multidisciplinary projects, focus on sustainable design and energy efficiency, and mentor a team to deliver high-quality outcomes.

The role requires 8–10 years of hands-on mechanical engineering design experience within Building Services, with knowledge of REVIT and IES, and a strong understanding of Australian codes and standards. This is a client-facing, delivery-focused leadership position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 8–10 years hands-on experience in mechanical engineering design within Building Services.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status preferred.
• Project expertise across Residential, Commercial, Health, Education, Sports & entertainment, and Data Centre sectors.
• Understanding of REVIT and IES software.
• Skills in design, documentation, heat load calculation and coordination.
• Strong knowledge of Australian building codes, regulations and industry standards.
• Proven delivery of large multidisciplinary projects.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive and proactive work attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead energy-efficient, innovative projects.
• Apply engineering management experience to lead multidisciplinary projects.
• Undertake engineering design and reviews within Building Services and prepare reports.
• Collaborate with clients to understand requirements and provide technical guidance.
• Develop energy-efficient HVAC systems as part of a team.
• Prepare and review drawings, schematics and documentation.
• Interface with clients and colleagues to achieve industry-leading outcomes.
• Stay informed on industry trends and advancements in sustainable design.
