Job summary

ERM is seeking an experienced botanist based in Perth to advance beyond traditional flora consulting. You will lead flora and vegetation programs across Western Australia, influence environmental approvals and project design, and mentor other botanists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Strong experience in botany or ecology, ideally in Western Australia.
• Experience leading flora and vegetation surveys and reporting for environmental approvals.
• Knowledge of WA environmental assessment requirements and flora surveys guidance.
• Strong technical writing, analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to manage projects, priorities and client expectations.
• Excellent communication with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to undertake fieldwork in remote WA locations; valid Australian driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead flora and vegetation surveys across Western Australia, including complex and remote field programs.
• Provide high-quality botanical identification, interpretation and technical advice.
• Lead the preparation and review of flora and vegetation assessments for environmental approvals.
• Bring botanical expertise into environmental impact assessments, approvals strategies and project design.
• Work alongside ERM specialists across ecology, environmental approvals and other disciplines to solve complex environmental challenges.
• Provide trusted technical advice directly to clients and project teams.
• Manage projects from scope and proposal through to field delivery, reporting and client outcomes.
• Lead and mentor botanists and ecologists and help build technical capability within the team.
• Contribute to technical quality, innovation and continuous improvement across ERM's ecology practice.
• Shape a career that reflects strengths and interests, expanding into environmental assessment, approvals and client advisory work.
• Build client relationships and commercial experience through proposals, delivery and new opportunities.
