Job summary

IP Australia seeks a Senior Backend / AI / ML Software Engineer to join the AI Factory within Business Delivery Services. You will deliver production capabilities alongside data scientists, ML engineers and subject matter experts, applying Python and AWS in a government environment.

This 12-month contract (with extensions) offers hybrid work with Canberra as the preferred location, and occasional travel for onboarding and beyond.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development experience in production systems.
• Hands-on AWS and serverless architecture background.
• Experience with IaC and AWS CDK.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in complex projects.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with data scientists and analysts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver software components alongside software developers, data scientists and ML engineers.
• Build and maintain production capabilities within a multidisciplinary Agile team.
• Deliver Proofs of Concept with Subject Matter Experts.
• Develop solutions using AWS, particularly serverless technologies.
• Contribute to the responsible application of AI and emerging technologies.
• Maintain and continuously improve existing production systems.
• Contribute to technical documentation, code quality and development practices.
