Job summary

Macquarie Cloud Services is seeking a Principal Consultant to lead Azure‑driven pre‑sales engagements with federal and state government customers. You will shape complex cloud opportunities, govern architecture discussions, and guide proposals from initial inquiry through tender responses, ensuring secure, compliant outcomes.

You will partner with sales and engineering teams, mentor junior staff, and travel to Canberra as needed to sustain senior stakeholder relationships and strategic account

Qualifications

• Strong experience in a senior consulting, pre-sales, solution architecture or technical advisory role with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and cloud services.
• Deep hands-on understanding of Microsoft Azure, including Azure architecture, cloud migration, modernisation, managed services and customer solution design.
• Experience with complex enterprise customers, across Azure, cloud managed services, hybrid cloud, public-sector or highly regulated environments.
• Microsoft Security experience (MDR, XDR, Defender or Sentinel) would be highly regarded.
• Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders, including C-level, executives and senior public-sector audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical conversations across Microsoft Azure, cloud architecture and managed services opportunities with new and existing customers, including Federal and State Government.
• Partner with Account Directors, BDMs and technical teams to shape Azure-led solutions, proposals, bids and tender responses for complex public-sector opportunities.
• Act as the senior technical interface between customers and internal teams during the sales cycle and project initiation, with government requirements in mind.
• Build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders, Microsoft representatives, alliance partners and internal teams.
• Support go-to-market planning, customer workshops, Azure positioning and sales enablement for government and enterprise needs.
