Job summary

Spectrum Automation Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our Melbourne team. This hands-on role will own projects from concept to commissioning, collaborating with clients to deliver high-quality automation solutions.

Ideal candidates will have a degree in engineering, a proven automation design background, and strong experience with Ignition SCADA and OT networks. You will lead projects, document requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement across

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or similar).
Proven experience in automation and control system design.
Strong experience with Ignition SCADA and OT networks (preferred).
Exposure to PLC platforms, industrial networks, and system integration.
Experience working within a Systems Integrator, OEM, or End User environment.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, commission and support PLC, SCADA and OT Systems.
Work directly with customers to understand requirements and develop innovative automation solutions.
Deliver projects from specification through to commissioning and ongoing support.
Provide technical guidance during the pre-sales process.
Prepare technical documentation including functional descriptions, user manuals and commissioning documentation.
Support continuous improvement across engineering standards and project delivery.
Deliver solutions that improve operational efficiency, reliability, and safety
