Job summary

Nexia Edwards Marshall, based in Adelaide, is hiring an Audit & Assurance professional to support our audit teams in delivering high-quality financial audits and strengthening technical skills. You will work closely with managers and partners, gaining exposure to a variety of client industries and challenges.

Based in our CBD offices, you’ll receive strong training, mentorship, and opportunities to travel regionally.

Qualifications

• 2 years external audit experience in an Australian practice.
• Commenced or completed CA/CPA program through CAANZ or CPA Australia.
• Bachelor degree or higher majoring in Accounting.
• Ability to develop strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Excellent English skills—written and spoken.
• Experience with not-for-profit, banking, building & construction, transport, professional services, or wine industries is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with external financial audits and reporting of audit results.
• Develop understanding of diverse client businesses and associated risks.
• Assess internal controls and document client processes; test controls and communicate deficiencies.
• Perform substantive audit procedures to verify assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures.
• Draft engagement letters, strategy reports, completion reports and audit reports.
• Travel locally, intrastate and interstate as required.

Current opportunity

As part of our Audit & Assurance Services division, you will be supporting our audit teams to produce high quality financial audits, building your analytical and technical skills underpinned by clear and strong communication.

Reporting to our great managers and partners you will perform a broad range of financial audit tasks and grow your technical and professional skills.

Based in our CBD offices you will be surrounded by specialists with technical expertise, receive high quality training and solid support to propel your career.

The role

• Assisting with the conduct of external financial audits, and assisting with reporting audit results.
• Develop an understanding of a broad range of client businesses and the associated risks.
• Assessing and reviewing internal controls and documenting client processes around key business cycles, testing the effectiveness of key controls and communicating deficiencies found.
• Performing substantive audit procedures to confirm assets, liabilities, revenue and expenditure reported in the financial reports and accounting records.
• Drafting engagement letters, strategy reports, completion reports and audit reports for review.
• Local, intrastate and interstate travel may be required.

Your skills and experience

• 2 years prior external audit experience in an Australian Accounting Practice and knowledge of accounting standards and audit procedures
• Commenced or completed Chartered Accountants Program through CAANZ or CPA Australia program or equivalent
• Completed Bachelors degree or higher qualification majoring in Accounting
• Able to develop strong relationships with clients and colleagues
• Excellent english skills both written and oral
• Experience with clients in the not-for-profit sector, banking, building and construction industry, transport industry, professional services and wine industry an advantage.

Salary range $85,000 - 100,000 package including superannuation
