Intrax Consulting Group in Melbourne seeks a Senior or Associate Structural Engineer to lead high‑quality designs for large-scale buildings. You will manage projects end‑to‑end, mentor junior engineers, and liaise with architects, managers and clients to deliver innovative, compliant solutions.

You will apply your Chartered status and Australian standards expertise while driving collaboration and client-focused delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience across large-scale commercial building structures.
Chartered professional engineer status & NER minimum with preferred Class 2 DB&P.
Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team, mentoring junior engineers.
Inquisitive mindset with focus on innovative problem solving.
Strong organisational and time management skills across multiple projects.
Solid knowledge of Australian standards and building codes.
Excellent influencing and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders.
Bachelor Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
Thorough working knowledge of ETABS, Ram Concept, RAPT and SpaceGass.

Responsibilities

Deliver high quality and innovative structural designs and documentation for complex building structures.
Lead and manage projects from concept to construction within budget and schedule.
Coordinate with architects, project managers, builders, developers and other stakeholders.
Foster client focus with responsiveness, timely delivery and professionalism.
Mentor and develop engineers and grow the structural team and client portfolio.
Ensure designs are technically accurate, cost-effective and compliant with Australian standards.
Contribute to innovative and technical improvement projects.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior or Associate level Structural Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. You will report to the Structures Manager and be supported by the National Engineering Manager and will be provided an opportunity to demonstrate your leadership skills and grow and develop structural engineers within your team.

In this exciting and fast paced role your day to day will include:

Deliver high quality and innovative structural designs and documentation for building structures with large complexity, including but not limited to high-rise developments, educational, Retail, health, Industrial and sporting facilities.
Lead and managing projects from concept design to construction within budget and delivery time frames.
Liaise with architects, project managers, builders, developers and other relevant project stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
Cultivate a sense of client focus in your team's everyday approach to their work, in particular with a sense of responsiveness, delivery on time, and professionalism.
Mentor and develop engineers, contribute to growing the structural team and growing the portfolio of clients.
Delivery of technically accurate, cost effective and optimum designs in accordance with Australian standards.
Contribute to innovative and technical improvement projects and designs.

To be successful in this role you will:

Strong track record of accomplishment including +5 years of experience across large scale commercial building structures.
Chartered professional engineer status & NER minimum with preferred Class 2 DB&P.
A strong track record of being able to work both independently and part of a collaborative, fast paced team including mentoring of junior colleagues.
An inquisitive mindset that is always looking for ways to be innovative in problem solving.
Strong organisational and time management skills allowing you to juggle a range of interesting projects at any one time.
Well-honed knowledge in the interpretation and application of Australian standards and building codes.
Exceptional influencing and negotiating skills working with a variety of people from all walks of life including an ability of quickly build rapport and gain trust.
A drive and determination that allows you to flourish and thrive in a learning environment.
A minimum qualification of Bachelor Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
Thorough working knowledge of ETABS, Ram Concept, RAPT and Spacegass.
