Job summary

Shine Lawyers is seeking a Senior Associate to lead and contribute to high-profile class actions and major commercial litigation. You will manage multiple actions, contribute to case strategy, and mentor junior lawyers within the Class Actions team.

You’ll work with clients and funders, develop investigations, coordinate expert evidence, and help originate new class action opportunities while upholding Shine’s commitment to justice and client service.

Qualifications

• Experience as a senior lawyer practising in major commercial litigation.
• Experience leading legal teams and managing complex matters.
• Strong analytical, project management and client-communication skills.

The Team

We are proud to have a strong Class Actions presence nationally, assisting clients to secure justice in some of the nation's most prominent Class Actions, including the Stolen Wages and Stolen Generations class actions, the Ruby Princess class action and the Worley Ltd shareholder class action. The team is led by an experienced and highly regarded Head of Class Actions, and assisted by a talented and dedicated team of Practice Leaders, Special Counsels, Senior Associates and other legal professionals.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate with experience individually contributing to the success of class actions and/or major commercial litigation to join our growing Class Actions team.

Whether you’ve come from defendant or plaintiff practice, you will have the opportunity to take a leading role on prominent cases, including contributing to case strategy, expert evidence, and investigations into new class actions. With mentorship from a team of highly experienced class actions practitioners, you will have an ideal balance of autonomy and guidance.

With compassion, connection and purpose, you'll be a true champion of our clients by:

• Managing the conduct of multiple class actions, using case plans and effectively delegating and overseeing the supporting legal team.
• Providing strategic advice and updates to Shine's partnered litigation funders on ongoing cases and investigations.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with our clients, providing regular and effective communication whilst managing expectations.
• Contributing to the origination, investigation and commencement of new class action opportunities.
• Assisting in class action investigations.
