About The Company

Lander & Rogers is a leading independent law firm, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and a global reach across all overseas jurisdictions. We are known for our commitment to exceptional client service, innovation and a people‑first culture. We are proud of the long‑term relationships we build with our clients.

About The Group

This is an exciting opportunity as we continue to invest in the growth of our expanding Banking team. We are looking for an ambitious Senior Associate who would like to be involved in that journey rather than simply joining an established hierarchy.

Our highly collaborative Banking team across the full range of corporate, leveraged and real estate finance matters but the primary focus for the successful candidate will be on complex high‑value real estate financings. We advise on transactions from complex, high‑profile multi‑jurisdictional deals and large syndicated transactions through to sponsor‑backed acquisitions, developments and refinancings and bespoke private credit deals.

We are seeking an Senior Associate who wants to play a meaningful role in our journey. You will be given the opportunity to develop deep client relationships, mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the ongoing growth of the practice.

About The Role
  • This role offers more than excellent technical work. It presents a real career progression opportunity for those wanting to lead transactions end‑to‑end and to get involved in business development activities.
  • You will work closely with sophisticated sponsors, institutional investors and private credit providers to understand their business objectives in order to deliver high‑quality pragmatic legal solutions.
  • Work with partners and lawyers across the firm on a range of complex cross border and Australian transactions with a particular emphasis on real estate financings. This team deals with some of the highest value most complex deals in the market. The focus of the team is very much on the sponsor/borrower and private credit side of transactions rather than bank‑side financings.
  • Draft a wide range of finance documents, including facility agreements, intercreditor deeds and other ancillary finance documents.
  • Supervising, supporting and mentoring lawyers, graduates and seasonal clerks.
  • Building client relationships through business development, knowledge‑sharing and client focused initiatives. Business development is a key focus for this team and while a successful track record is not necessary the successful candidate will be someone who is keen to participate in those efforts and develop the required skills.
  • Structured learning, feedback and career progression support will be provided in addition to hands‑on partner mentoring. We are committed to supporting lawyers who want to build long‑term careers at Landers.
About You

Ideally, you will have:

  • Suitable applicants will bring a minimum of 5 years + post‑admission experience (PAE) in real estate finance gained with a leading Australian firm
  • Experience advising on the full range of real estate financings including acquisition financings, investment financings, development financings and refinancings
  • Strong drafting skills across facility agreements, intercreditor agreements and side deeds
  • Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation capabilities
  • Highly organised and proficient in effective and timely management of transactions and key workstreams
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Strong commitment to supporting continuous learning and skill development for lawyers and graduate lawyers
  • Commercial questioning mindset and pragmatic approach to legal practice
