Job summary

Russell Kennedy is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join the Property & Development team in Melbourne and Sydney. You will manage retirement living transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, and development, and provide high‑quality drafting advice on property matters.

You will contribute to business development, draft varied agreements, conduct due diligence, mentor staff, and participate in information security practices and ISO 27001 training as part of firm

Qualifications

  • Five+ years' post-admission experience in retirement living or commercial property work.
  • Strong drafting and end-to-end transaction management.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Experience in a similar role preferred.

Senior Associate - Property & Development

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Associate to join our Property & Development team in Melbourne & Sydney.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage retirement living (RV) transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, and development
  • work.
  • Provide high-quality drafting advice on property matters and due diligence.
  • Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives to support the continued growth of the team.
  • Drafting various types of agreements.
  • Due diligence, including as part of commercial and M&A transactions;
  • Supervision and mentoring of staff including lawyers, law clerks and non-legal staff;
  • Support ISO 27001 compliance by role modelling information security best practices, ensuring employees, contractors and suppliers understand their information security responsibilities, and promoting appropriate training and awareness; and
  • Time recording and billing.
  • ISO27001 Audit - Act as a role model for information security. As well as setting an example of good practice, management responsibilities include ensuring that employees, relevant contractors and suppliers are aware of their responsibilities, and attend Information Security training were appropriate in accordance with ISO 27001, control A.6.3.
Skills/Knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience across property transactions, retirement villages, commercial and retail leasing, project work, or related areas.
  • Strong experience in commercial drafting and managing complex transactional files end-to-end.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ideally, experience working in a similar role.
Experience
  • 5+ years' post admission experience in retirement living or commercial property work.
