Job summary

SMEC in Brisbane is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer – Water Infrastructure to lead design and delivery on water infrastructure projects. You will apply your expertise across concept and detailed design, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role emphasises client relationships, bid support, and ensuring compliance with WSA/SEQ, AWWA codes and Australian standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, RPEQ.
  • 10+ years’ experience relevant industry experience across the design of water infrastructure, pump stations, pipeline and river intakes.
  • Design on STP projects including blowers, aeration networks, biogas flares, inlet works, mechanical screening, sludge handling and chemical dosing systems.
  • Experience with WSA/SEQ code, AWWA codes and relevant Australian standards.
  • Proficient with engineering software such as HAMMER, Water/Sewer GEMS, AutoCAD, Strand7, AutoPIPE.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of information, production of designs and computations, project management and client relationship management across Water Infrastructure projects
  • Contributing to bid preparation and providing technical input across all disciplines
  • Ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
  • Collaborating with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables
  • Contributing to the commercial success of projects and the team
  • Applying project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and accomplish project deliverables to the required standard and in a timely manner
  • Mentoring junior engineers

The role

We are currently looking for an Associate/Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer – Water Infrastructure to join our Brisbane team. The successful candidate will have a good base of water infrastructure concept/detailed design experience with a passion and willingness to expand your experience and knowledge.

You Would Play a Key Role In

With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have preferably gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.

Suitable Applicants Will Be Able to Demonstrate
