Job summary

Allens is seeking up to 10 lawyers to join our Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney offices. You will work with Partners and the wider team, gaining exposure to complex transactions and building a niche while laying a strong foundation across the field.

You will draft documents, manage matters, review work, lead negotiations, perform due diligence, and engage in business development, mentoring junior lawyers in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a highly regarded law firm (private practice or in‑house) where you drafted legal documents and agreements directly with clients.
  • Reviewed and amended the work of junior lawyers, managed matters, and built relationships with clients.

Job description

Your Role

We're looking for up to 10 lawyers to join our Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney offices. You'll work closely with our Partners and the wider team, and will gain exposure to the most complex and interesting transactions in the market. Allens’ structure allows you to work with multiple Partners within your practice group and across a variety of work, encouraging each lawyer to find a niche while building a strong foundation across the field.

Responsibilities
  • Draft legal documents and agreements.
  • Manage matters and transactions.
  • Review legal documents.
  • Lead negotiations with clients.
  • Perform due diligence.
  • Provide complex legal advice.
  • Engage in business development and pick up new work.
  • Manage junior lawyers.
  • Handle discovery and e‑discovery management.
Qualifications
  • Experience in one or more of the following practice areas:
    • Disputes and Litigation
    • Mergers & Acquisitions
    • Banking & Finance
    • Technology, Media & Telecommunications
    • Funds / Pensions / Super / Wealth
    • Employment and Projects & Development
    • Competition, Tax, Intellectual Property & Trademarks
  • Experience working in a highly regarded law firm (private practice or in‑house experience) where you:
    • Drafted legal documents and agreements directly with clients.
    • Reviewed and amended the work of junior lawyers.
    • Managed matters.
    • Built relationships with clients and led negotiations.
    • Delegated work to junior lawyers.
    • Engaged in internal and external business development.
    • Wrote pitch documents or legal articles.
    • Hosted seminars.
  • Desire to learn, grow, network, and mentor others.
  • Possesses a personal story that highlights unique background and life experience.
