HarperLloyd Recruitment is partnering with a leading specialist insurance litigation firm seeking a Senior Associate – Motor Vehicle Insurance to join its Sydney team. The role focuses on defendant motor vehicle property claims and suits an experienced insurer-litigation professional.

You will manage a busy portfolio, contribute to claims strategy, mentor junior lawyers and engage directly with insurer clients and claims teams in a specialist environment that values expertise and leadership.

Qualifications

• Senior Associate-level insurance litgation experience
• Strong motor vehicle insurance litigation experience
• Experience managing a busy litigation portfolio with autonomy
• Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills
• Confidence dealing directly with insurer clients and claims teams
• Sound commercial judgement
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior lawyers
• Pragmatic approach to dispute resolution and claims strategy

Responsibilities

• Handle defendant motor vehicle property claims and related disputes
• Contribute to claims strategy and insurer training
• Manage a busy portfolio with autonomy and timely delivery
• Draft pleadings, advices and settlement documents
• Liaise directly with insurer clients and claims teams
• Mentor junior lawyers and provide supervision
• Engage in hearings and Local Court proceedings as required
• Support senior practitioners in complex matters

The role will focus primarily on defendant motor vehicle property claims and will suit an experienced insurance litigator who understands both the legal and commercial drivers of insurer portfolios.

You will work across matters including:

• Recovery agent claims
• Credit hire and credit repair disputes
• Liability and quantum disputes
• Indemnity issues
• Heavy motor and commercial vehicle matters
• Contaminated fuel and complex property damage claims
• Settlement strategy and negotiated resolution
• Local Court proceedings and hearings

About You

You will ideally have:

• Senior Associate-level insurance litigation experience
• Strong experience in motor vehicle insurance litigation
• Experience managing a busy litigation portfolio with autonomy
• Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills
• Confidence dealing directly with insurer clients and claims teams
• Sound commercial judgement
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior lawyers
• A practical approach to dispute resolution and claims strategy
