Job summary

Sydney Water is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Archivist to join the Natural Assets & Heritage Team and Records Management Teams. The role will lead administration, conservation and sentencing of the Joint Sydney Water and WaterNSW Historical Archive collection dating back to 1888, ensuring statutory compliance and supporting business needs.

Qualifications

• Experience describing, categorising, digitising, storage, preservation and retrieval of archive material.
• Ability to assess material against retention and disposal policies.
• Strong communication and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Membership of ASA or equivalent professional body.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain collection management procedures for archives and moveable heritage.
• Apply retention/disposal authorities and collection development policy.
• Apply metadata to materials in the collection.
• Facilitate transfer of holdings to State Archives Collection and NSW Govt Records Repository.
• Oversee external contractors for sentencing, conservation, digitisation, packaging and transfer.
• Support internal staff, external stakeholders and GIPA enquiries.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Handle archive boxes and use ladders safely.
