Job summary

Slalom in Canberra is seeking a Senior Architect - Quality Engineering to lead testing strategy for medium to large projects, partnering with clients and teams to elevate quality and delivery. You will help embed a culture of whole-team ownership of quality and champion automation as a core delivery driver.

You’ll mentor Quality Engineers, drive AI-assisted delivery, and shape governance, risk management and test reporting across platforms to improve velocity, reliability and security.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional testing experience across the full SDLC.
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing teams of Quality Engineers.
• Strong client and stakeholder management across business, product and engineering teams.

What You'll Do

As a QE Senior Architect, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality solutions, leveraging your extensive domain expertise to elevate the team’s performance. You’ll be a guiding force, evaluating multiple approaches to problem-solving and acting as a catalyst for team velocity by mentoring and coaching others.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop appropriate testing strategies for medium to large projects through strong collaboration with clients and team members
• Adopt AI assisted engineering practices to accelerate delivery and elevate quality
• Implement and evolve automation frameworks; drive increased test automation coverage across projects
• Contribute to project governance by managing risk and mitigations, and test reporting
• Conduct test reviews and support requirements traceability and test coverage mapping
• Collaborate with team in setting quality goals and defining acceptance criteria
• Prioritise and execute testing activities aligned to the test pyramid
• Perform exploratory testing on product builds alongside the team and our customer
• Facilitate defect triage and guide overall defect resolution processes
• Coach and champion quality practices within a cross-functional team

What You'll Bring

• 8+ years of professional testing experience, including Agile delivery (e.g. Scrum) across the full software development lifecycle
• Demonstrated experience of leading, mentoring and developing teams of Quality Engineers
• Strong client and stakeholder management experience, with the ability to build trusted relationships across business, product and engineering teams
• Proven ability to embed quality practices early in the lifecycle (Shift Left) and maintain quality post-release (Shift Right)
• Strong advocacy for shared quality ownership across disciplines
• Strong experience in automation testing, that can include:
  • UI test automation
  • API/service/contract testing
  • Mobile testing
  • Data validation
• Experience in non-functional testing, including:
  • Performance/Load
  • Security
• Experience in DevOps or continuous integration practices and tools
• Experience and interest on AI-enabled delivery is a plus

Please note that this role requires Australian Citizenship and a Baseline security clearance, at minimum.
