Job summary

Slalom Build is seeking an Architect - Quality Engineering in Australia. You will lead testing strategy, automation, and QA practices across data engineering projects, leveraging Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks and Dbt to ensure reliable, scalable software delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years professional testing experience in Agile environments.
• Strong automation testing experience including API testing.
• Experience with data transformation and migration projects.
• Proficiency with SQL and data validation.
• Experience with data engineering tools: Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Databricks, Dbt, Coalesce.

What You Will Do

• Develop appropriate testing strategies for small to medium-sized data engineering and/or migration projects
• Adopt AI assisted engineering practices to accelerate delivery and elevate quality
• Implement and evolve automation frameworks; drive increased test automation coverage across projects
• Produce test status reports and quality metrics
• Facilitate defect triage and guide overall defect resolution processes
• Conduct test reviews and support requirements traceability and test coverage mapping
• Prioritise and execute testing activities aligned to the test pyramid
• Collaborate with team in setting quality goals and defining acceptance criteria
• Perform exploratory testing on product builds alongside the team and our customer
• Coach and champion quality practices within a cross-functional team

What You Will Bring

• 5+ years of professional testing experience, including Agile delivery (e.g. Scrum)
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle
• Proven ability to embed quality practices early in the lifecycle (Shift Left) and maintain quality post-release (Shift Right)
• Strong advocacy for shared quality ownership across disciplines
• Solid experience in automation testing, including:
  • API/service/contract testing
• Experience in non-functional testing, including:
  • Performance/Load
  • Security
• Experience on data transformation and migration projects
• Experience on data engineering tools: Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Databricks, Dbt, Coalesce
• Proficiency in SQL and working with data for validation
• Experience and interest on AI-enabled delivery is a plus
