Job summary

Melton City Council is seeking a permanent part-time Senior Animal Attendant to join the Pound Services team. The role supports daily operation, animal welfare checks, and guidance to staff, with a focus on humane care and compliance.

This is a 20-hour-per-week position, Friday to Sunday, located in Melton. The role reports to the Pound Services Team Leader and offers pro rata salary plus superannuation, with opportunities for professional development and workplace flexibility.

Qualifications

• Experience working in an animal keeping environment including care, cleaning, feeding and hygiene of animals.
• Knowledge of Codes of Practice and legislation relating to Domestic Animals and livestock.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all legislative requirements and Codes of Practice are adhered to.
• Carry out daily health and wellbeing checks of all impounded animals including assessments.
• Provide training and guidance to Animal Attendants and Contractors.
• Establish and maintain processes to encourage re-homing of impounded animals.

Certificate IV in Animal Control/Compliance
