Financial Crime & Fraud Operations (FC&FO) is responsible for the operational management of BEN’s financial crime controls across AML/CTF, Sanctions, Fraud and Scams. The function delivers investigation capability, detection systems, financial crime intelligence, regulatory reporting governance and operational support to identify, prevent and respond to financial crime risks impacting BEN.

The Financial Crime Intelligence Unit (FCIU) is responsible for the development and delivery of financial crime intelligence, including the identification of emerging threats, development of typologies and provision of insights to support financial crime risk management across BEN, supporting detection, investigation and capability uplift.

About the opportunity

As the Senior Analyst, Financial Crime Intelligence Unit, and reporting to Senior Manager (FCIU) you will be responsible for identifying emerging and evolving financial crime threats and translating intelligence into accountable typologies to be utilised across BEN’s Financial Crime Operations.

You will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of financial crime typologies that impact BEN customer and designated services across AML/CTF, fraud and sanctions and ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and industry practices.

In particular you will get to:

• Provide subject matter expertise on financial crime typologies, methods and trends to inform operational decision making and mentor coach and uplift the analytical capabilities of the FCIU to support and drive operational excellence
• Gather intelligence to inform risk positions, drive threat assessments, share best practice and support the uplift BEN’s FC control framework, via attendance at internal and external forums and related working groups to present finding and analysis.
• In addition to being a strategic anchor for the FCUI team you will work closely with Financial Crime Risk Solutions and Risk Assessment teams, BEN first line risk teams and other Group Risk teams to ensure typologies are effectively embedded into detection and operational frameworks

This is a permanent full‑time position ideally located in Melbourne or Adelaide but for an outstanding candidate other locations may be considered.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Demonstrated and in‑depth experience and knowledge of financial crime typologies, emerging money laundering / terrorism financing (ML/TF) methodologies, red flag risk indicators, and application of effective preventative and detective controls.
• Financial Crime, AML/CTF, Sanctions, Fraud prevention experience within banking and financial services
• Proven ability to extract actionable insights from large, complex, data sets and reference material, identifying patterns and translating quantitative and qualitative data into strategic business recommendations.
• Demonstrated experience in financial crime intelligence, investigations and operations in either law enforcement, AUSTRAC and / or an international or domestic financial institution
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to collect, organise, and cross‑reference data from multiple sources
• Strong knowledge of statutory financial crime compliance obligations, with the ability to interpret evolving regulatory expectations and ensure organisational alignment across banking products and channels.
• Excellent communications skills with the ability to produce and present clear and succinct written reports tailored to a diverse audience, translating complex information into actional insights
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work with multiple internal and external stakeholder to provide SME expertise with the ability to influence and advise.
