Job summary

Clayton Utz is seeking an experienced AML/CTF Compliance Team Leader to join our National Risk & Compliance team in Sydney. You will lead the AML/CTF Analysts, work with the Compliance Officer, and ensure regulatory obligations are met across the firm.

You'll guide risk identification, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring, while driving program improvements and stakeholder engagement. This role offers a path to shaping our AML/CTF program within a premier law firm.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in AML/CTF compliance.
• Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or finance.
• Experience with client due diligence, ongoing monitoring and AUSTRAC requirements.
• Experience leading a team and managing workloads and people matters.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of AML/CTF Analysts, overseeing workflows and priorities.
• Provide guidance on identifying and escalating risks and facilitate training for compliance culture.
• Oversee client due diligence requests, including enhanced due diligence, and ongoing monitoring.
• Assist in continuous improvement of the AML/CTF program, policies, procedures and controls.
• Act as a subject matter expert and first point of contact for stakeholders on AML/CTF application and compliance.
• Conduct controls, quality assurance and monitoring of AML/CTF processes and reporting for senior management and AUSTRAC.
• Stay updated on AML/CTF legislation and regulatory requirements to keep the framework current.
