Job summary

Talent is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to deliver enterprise-scale AI/ML platforms for a major Australian Government digital transformation program. Work across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments to build secure, scalable AI solutions and governance aligned with government requirements.

You will lead deployments, optimize AI infrastructure, and collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and cybersecurity specialists to drive continuous improvement and secure operations across the platform.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in AI Engineering, including designing, deploying and supporting enterprise AI/ML environments.
• Strong experience with Python, Linux, Docker/Podman, Kubernetes and container-based platform engineering, ideally including OpenShift AI.
• Demonstrated expertise in MLOps, model lifecycle management, model deployment, inference, monitoring and automated AI/ML pipelines.
• Practical experience with Generative AI technologies, including Hugging Face, vLLM, LLM APIs, RAG, vector databases and AI agent frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including AI/ML services, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible) and CI/CD automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable AI/ML platforms across on-premises, public cloud and hybrid environments.
• Lead the implementation and optimisation of AI infrastructure, including model deployment, automated workflows and operational monitoring.
• Develop and integrate Generative AI solutions, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities.
• Build automated deployment pipelines using Infrastructure as Code, container technologies and modern DevOps practices.
• Implement secure AI solutions incorporating governance, access controls, vulnerability management and Australian Government security requirements.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, architects and cybersecurity specialists to deliver integrated AI capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership, resolve complex engineering challenges and support continuous improvement across AI platforms.
