Job summary

Bunnings is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - AI to shape the platforms and patterns enabling machine learning and generative AI across the organisation. The role sits in the Data, AI and Loyalty team and will be based at our National Support Office in Burnely VIC.

You will design, build and evolve scalable AI and data solutions, set engineering standards, and partner with product owners to translate business needs into robust technical outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in software engineering, including delivering AI enabled solutions into production.
• Hands on with modern programming languages such as Python, C# or Scala.
• Practical experience with machine learning and generative AI frameworks.
• Experience working in cloud environments (Azure or GCP).
• Confidence working in Agile teams and influencing technical direction through collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve scalable AI and data solutions used across multiple business areas.
• Set and uplift engineering standards, patterns and guardrails to support safe, high quality delivery.
• Explore emerging AI tools and frameworks, turning experimentation into reusable solutions.
• Partner with product owners and stakeholders to translate business needs into well designed technical outcomes.
• Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, pairing and everyday collaboration.
• Improve performance, reliability and cost across platforms and pipelines.
