Job summary

Xpt Software Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior AI engineer to lead the design and build of an AI/agentic layer over SAST/SCA capabilities. You will create integrations from GitLab into an AI pipeline, implement multi-step agentic workflows, and ensure robust guardrails and audit logging.

The role requires 8+ years in software/AI engineering with hands-on experience in LLM APIs and secure data handling. Collaboration with security SMEs and BA for measurable MTTR improvements is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, function calling and context management at production scale.
• Designing agentic systems with multi-step reasoning and human approval checkpoints.
• Strong software engineering skills for building external integrations (GitLab API/webhooks, CI/CD).
• Understanding prompt engineering and evaluation methodologies for AI triage decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build integrations pulling SAST/SCA findings from GitLab into an external AI-enabled pipeline.
• Develop LLM-based triage with false-positive scoring, plain-language explanations, and remediation guidance.
• Create agentic workflows that correlate CVEs with code usage and draft MR remediation.
• Own prompt engineering, guardrails, audit logging, and human-in-the-loop approval gates.
• Select and integrate LLM stacks considering data residency and confidentiality constraints.
• Establish feedback loops to improve AI outputs against analyst decisions.
• Collaborate with SMEs and BAs to align AI outputs with security objectives.
• Document architecture, data flows and model usage for security/compliance reviews.
