Job summary

Bilue is hiring an AI Engineer in Sydney to design, build and ship agentic AI systems for clients across financial services, government, insurance and retail. You’ll split time between client delivery and shaping patterns, tooling and standards the team uses.

This isn’t a pure research or prompt engineering role; you’ll focus on production-grade systems with cross-functional collaboration and responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• Shipping AI or GenAI solutions to production with post-launch impact.
• Strong Python skills; TypeScript or Java a plus.
• Hands-on with agentic frameworks and tooling and vector databases.
• Depth in at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Solid engineering fundamentals: SQL, ETL/ELT, APIs, microservices, enterprise integration.
• Experience running AI in production with observability and LLMOps.

Job Description

The Role

As an AI Engineer at Bilue, you’ll design, build and ship AI systems for clients across financial services, government, insurance and retail. You’ll sit in AI Labs, splitting your time between client delivery and shaping the patterns, tooling and standards the rest of the team builds on.

This isn’t a research role, and it isn’t a prompt engineering role. You’ll build agentic systems that hold up with real users in real enterprise environments, and help define what production-grade means at Bilue.

What You’ll Do

Client Delivery

• Design and build agentic systems, memory systems and LLM-powered features for enterprise clients, from architecture through to production
• Architect cloud-native AI solutions on AWS, Azure or GCP, with LLMOps pipelines built to scale
• Integrate AI into the platforms clients already run, like CRM, ERP, lending and claims systems, through well-designed APIs and data pipelines
• Lead AI technical delivery in cross-functional squads alongside designers, strategists and client stakeholders
• Build responsible AI in from day one, including red-teaming, bias testing, evaluation harnesses and human-in-the-loop design

Building our capability

• Shape Bilue’s reference architectures for knowledge pipelines, agentic systems, LLM integrations and evaluation
• Help set the engineering bar for AI work, covering code quality, testing, prompt evaluation, model selection and cost optimisation
• Build reusable tools, accelerators and skills so every project starts further ahead than the last
• Share what you learn through documentation, tech talks and mentoring

Qualifications

What we're looking for

• A track record of shipping AI or GenAI solutions to production. Demos are great, but we want to hear what happened after launch
• Strong Python skills, with TypeScript or Java a plus
• Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks and tooling, such as LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex or CrewAI, plus vector databases
• Working depth in at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Solid engineering fundamentals: SQL, ETL/ELT, distributed systems, unstructured data, APIs, microservices and enterprise integration patterns
• Experience running AI in production with real observability and LLMOps practices, like prompt versioning, drift detection, cost monitoring and A/B evaluation
• The ability to explain complex ideas to client executives, and to think about why a system matters, not just how it works
• A low-ego, collaborative approach, with strong opinions you're happy to change when the evidence says so
• Comfortable working across multiple clients with ambiguous requirements

Bonus Points

• AWS AI stack experience, such as Bedrock, AgentCore, Strands, SageMaker, Lambda and Step Functions
• Familiarity with responsible AI frameworks, bias testing tools or AI governance practices
• Consulting or hyperscaler experience delivering for external clients under real constraints
• Open source contributions, AI research or published technical writing
