Job summary

The University of Melbourne is seeking a senior professional to lead complex risk assessments and case management for student safety and wellbeing matters, including responses to reports of harm involving children and young people. You will provide expert consultation across the University on gender-based violence, child safety and behaviours of concern.

Qualifications

  • Hold tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrate substantial experience leading practice around gender-based violence, sexual misconduct and behaviour management in complex organisations.
  • Have knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks covering discrimination, health and safety, child safety and sexual misconduct.

Responsibilities

  • Lead time critical risk assessments and responses to disclosures and reports of harm, including gender-based violence and behaviours of concern
  • Respond to child safety reports, ensuring escalation and compliance with legislation, policy and best practice standards
  • Provide expert advice, referrals and secondary consultation to academic, professional and residential stakeholders
  • Support Safer Community Program practice, working with junior colleagues on case management, documentation and reporting
  • Contribute to awareness and capacity building initiatives that promote Safer Community Program as the University's central response service

You will lead complex risk assessments and case management for student safety and wellbeing matters, including responding to reports of harm involving children and young people. You will provide expert consultation across the University on gender-based violence, child safety and behaviours of concern.

What you will deliver:
  • Lead time critical risk assessments and responses to disclosures and reports of harm, including gender-based violence and behaviours of concern
  • Respond to child safety reports, ensuring escalation and compliance with legislation, policy and best practice standards

Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.

The Safer Community Program is the University's central service for addressing behaviours of concern and harm. The team specialises in gender-based violence response, child safety, and support for trans and gender diverse communities. You will join a collaborative, expert group committed to evidence-based practice and building a safer, inclusive campus.
