Job description

Join a high-performing team at TMR as a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Chief People and Culture Officer. In this role, you will utilise your strategic thinking, communication, and coordination skills to support executive operations, manage high-level correspondence, and drive business performance reporting.

Make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, people-focused environment. The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Advisor to join the Office of the Chief People and Culture Officer (OCPCO). This is your opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team that supports strategic HR leadership across the department.

What You'll Be Doing

As a trusted coordination point, you'll ensure the seamless flow of information and requests across the Chief's office and the broader HR branch—supporting timely, consistent and high-quality outcomes.

  • Be the key connection between the Chief's office and business partners and key stakeholders—managing incoming and outgoing work with precision and professionalism.
  • Lead the coordination of executive briefings, ministerial correspondence, and Cabinet submissions, ensuring they meet government protocols and quality standards.
  • Triage incoming work, and review and synthesise complex information to support the effective, efficient and professional office operations.
  • Monitor and manage deliverables, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met and communications are aligned across the branch.
  • Collaborate across teams to support the delivery of branch priorities and initiatives, strategic planning, business performance, risk, and audit reporting.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can juggle competing priorities, and brings a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. You'll need to demonstrate:

  • High-level written communication skills, including the ability to draft and edit executive-level correspondence and documents.
  • Strong judgement and prioritisation skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and drive action.
  • Experience managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A strategic mindset and political acumen to navigate complex organisational environments.
  • Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of Queensland Government systems and governance frameworks is highly desirable.
What You'll Bring
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, public administration, business, or a related field, or at least 4 years' experience supporting executive offices or senior leadership teams in a large or government organisation.
  • Experience preparing a variety of documents including high-level briefings and correspondence.
  • Ability to quickly learn and use departmental systems.
  • A commitment to inclusive, respectful, and culturally aware workplace practices.

  • Flexible, permanent employment with generous leave and superannuation benefits.
  • A supportive, inclusive culture that values diversity and professional growth.
  • Opportunities to work on meaningful projects that shape the future of Queensland's transport network.

Note: TMR is an equal employment opportunity employer and is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
