SKL is seeking a Senior Actuarial Consultant in Sydney to join a specialist consulting team focused on risk, insurance and capital allocation decisions through advanced analytics and modelling.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of actuarial, insurance analytics, quantitative risk or capital modelling experience.
  • Experience in general insurance, reinsurance, risk consulting or insurance advisory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex concepts to a broad audience.
  • Experience with Python, R, SQL or Power BI.
  • Consulting mindset with a client-facing focus.
  • Progress towards actuarial qualifications desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop quantitative models to assess and quantify complex risks.
  • Deliver advanced analytics for insurance programme design and risk financing strategies.
  • Conduct scenario analysis, stochastic modelling and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Advise clients on insurance optimisation and alternative risk transfer solutions.
  • Support strategic decision-making through capital allocation and TCOR analysis.
  • Present analytical insights to senior stakeholders including boards.
  • Collaborate with insurers, brokers, underwriters and risk managers on high-impact projects.

Senior Actuarial Consultant - General Insurance
The Opportunity

As a Senior Actuarial Consultant, you will:

  • Develop quantitative models to assess and quantify complex risks.
  • Deliver advanced analytics to support insurance programme design and risk financing strategies.
  • Conduct scenario analysis, stochastic modelling and Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Advise clients on insurance optimisation, captives and alternative risk transfer solutions.
  • Support strategic decision-making through capital allocation and Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) analysis.
  • Present analytical insights to senior stakeholders, including executive leadership teams and boards.
  • Work collaboratively with insurers, brokers, underwriters and corporate risk managers on high-impact projects.
About You

We're interested in speaking with professionals who have:

  • Around 3–5 years' experience in actuarial, insurance analytics, quantitative risk or capital modelling.
  • Experience within general insurance, reinsurance, risk consulting or insurance advisory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a broad audience.
  • Experience using analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL or Power BI.
  • A consulting mindset with a genuine interest in client-facing work.
  • Progress towards actuarial qualifications is desirable but not essential.
