AKCL & Partners is seeking a Senior Accountant for a 100% remote contract role focused on business and SMSF work. Immediate start with approximately 5 hours per week, potential for increased volume.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in accounting and at least three years’ experience in public practice.
• Hands-on experience with business tax and SMSF compliance.
• Proficiency in Xero and Xero Tax; experience with SuperMate for SMSF.
• Able to manage workload independently and communicate with a remote team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts and partnerships, plus a small number of individuals.
• Prepare SMSF financial statements, annual returns & audit workpapers.
• Prepare and review BAS and IAS.
• Complete tax reconciliations and year-end workpapers.
• Prepare capital gains tax calculations and Division 7A calculations and reconciliations.
• Prepare depreciation schedules and other supporting workpapers.
• Review client accounting records, identify required adjustments and follow up on missing information.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced contract accountant to assist with business and SMSF accounting and tax work. This is a 100% work-from-home role with an immediate start available. The workload is focused on businesses and SMSFs, with only occasional individual tax returns.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts and partnerships, plus a small number of individuals.
