About the Company
Born in 2021 with a simple cushion and a big dream, Hommey is revolutionising the homeware industry. We believe that creating an aspirational, top-quality brand doesn't have to break the bank. Our mission? To help you craft a personalised home that truly reflects who you are, without compromising on style or your budget.
At Hommey, we're more than just a homeware company - we're a family dedicated to making ethical, sustainable choices. From reducing waste in our production chain to ensuring high-standard working conditions, we're committed to doing better for our planet and our people.
About the Role
After years of successfully outsourcing our finance function through early-stage growth, we’re ready to bring things in-house. This is your chance to build it from the ground up.
As our first in-house Senior Accountant, you'll be the cornerstone of our financial operations — owning everything from day-to-day accounting to building the systems that support smart, scalable decision-making. You’ll work across teams, countries, and systems to bring visibility and insight to the heart of Hommey’s growth journey.
If you're a hands-on accountant who wants to get close to the business, thrive in autonomy, and help build the next big thing in lifestyle and home, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Own and lead the full accounting function: bank recs, month-end close, management reports, journals, and reconciliations
- Build and streamline financial processes as we transition from outsourced to in-house systems
- Maintain accurate records in Xero and oversee accounts payable, receivable, and payroll
- Prepare weekly cash flow reporting and ensure regulatory compliance (BAS, IAS, payroll tax etc.)
- Support inventory and COGS accounting across AU and US using Xero & Cin7
- Liaise with external tax accountants on year-end financials, tax returns, FBT and compliance
- Collaborate with international partners and third parties to support our new US entity
- Design processes and internal controls to scale with the complexity of our business
- Partner with leadership to provide reporting, insights, and commercial support
About You- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in retail or eCommerce
- You’re fluent in Xero — NetSuite and Cin7 experience is a major bonus
- CA or CPA qualified (or working toward it)
- Familiar with international accounting, US entities or cross-border operations
- Detail-obsessed, highly organised, and proactive in solving problems
- A natural collaborator and strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- You’re entrepreneurial — you don’t just manage processes, you improve them
Why Join Hommey?- Be part of an ambitious, fast-growing brand shaking up the home and lifestyle space
- Own and shape the finance function — this role is foundational to our future
- Huge opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role as we scale
- Hybrid working from our brand new Melbourne HQ
- Enjoy five additional Comfort Days on top of annual leave — because balance matters
- Join a passionate team that values creativity, ethics, and impact
- Work in a start-up culture with the resources and runway to go global
