Job summary

Fleurieu Cranes is seeking an ambitious Accountant to join the finance team in South Australia. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will deliver monthly financial reporting, oversee day‑to‑day accounting across multiple entities and strengthen financial controls.

You will grow through exposure to financial modelling, forecasting and commercial decision‑making while helping streamline processes and enhance reporting as the business scales.

Qualifications

• 2-4+ years' accounting experience, ideally with exposure to professional practice and commercial environments.
• CA or CPA qualified, or working towards accreditation.
• Sound technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Experience with ATO compliance and financial reporting.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• A proactive approach to process improvement and a willingness to embrace new systems and technology.
• The ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
• Exposure to project‑based revenue recognition, fixed assets and multi‑entity accounting.
• Experience with financial modelling, budgeting or business performance analysis.
• Experience with accounting systems.
• Experience within construction, transport, crane hire or another operationally focused business.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial reporting and analysis for management and the Board.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operational accounting activities across multiple entities.
• Manage reconciliations, month‑end processes, financial controls and statutory compliance.
• Maintain accurate accounting records, workpapers, policies and procedures.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial performance reporting.
• Develop your business analysis skills through exposure to financial modelling, investment analysis and commercial projects.
• Work with operational managers to understand business performance, explain results and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve systems and automate reporting.
• Work closely with the Finance Manager on broader finance initiatives and business improvement projects.
