Job summary

WMS Tax & Advisory is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant or Supervisor to join our growing Australian practice. You’ll work with a team of professionals, mentoring junior staff and delivering high-quality tax and advisory services for diverse clients.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in public practice, CA/CPA qualifications or current study, and strong relationships with clients. A leadership mindset and willingness to progress into senior responsibilities are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience in public practice accounting.
• CA/CPA qualified or currently undertaking studies.
• Strong knowledge of companies, trusts and associated tax risks and issues.
• Strong Australian technical tax knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and work independently.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff is highly regarded.
• A desire to continue developing your leadership and people management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and analyse financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and other family and corporate groups.
• Review work prepared by junior accountants and provide constructive guidance for job finalisation.
• Manage workflow and build relationships with your client base.
• Prepare and review complex tax matters, including Div 7A, CGT and FBT.
• Assist in the management of BAS and income tax lodgements.
• Support, mentor and contribute to the development of undergraduates, graduates and accountants.
• Assist with technical tax and other consulting matters.
• Work closely with Partners on advisory projects and client engagements.
• Contribute to workflow management and team leadership initiatives where appropriate.
