Job description

Great accounting. Meaningful relationships.

A career that still leaves room for a life.

You know the drill. Tax returns, financial statements, deadlines and timesheets are all part of public practice.

But they do not need to be the whole story.

At PVW Partners, you will work closely with regional businesses and families, solve real commercial problems and build relationships that go well beyond the annual compliance cycle. You will also help develop less experienced accountants while continuing to strengthen your own technical, advisory and leadership capability.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Consultant to join our Townsville Team who can deliver high-quality tax and accounting work, confidently manage client relationships and bring sound judgement, curiosity and a solutions-focused approach to the team.

* Australian working rights are required at commencement (sponsorship not on offer).

WHY PVW PARTNERS?

PVW Partners is one of regional Australia’s longest-running accounting and advisory firm in Northern Australia with office locations in Cairns, Darwin and Townsville. Our purpose, Regional Australians Growing Regional Australia, reflects the clients, industries and communities we support.

Our people describe PVW Partners as offering the expertise and opportunities often associated with larger firms, combined with the connection and family culture of a boutique firm. They also highlight the diverse and complex client work and a genuine emphasis on work-life balance.

WHAT MAKES WORKING HERE DIFFERENT?

WORK THAT MATTERS

Work with diverse regional businesses and families, tackling interesting and complex matters while building genuine client relationships.

A CAREER THAT GROWS YOUR WAY

Whether your goal is to progress through to Partner or to build a rewarding long-term career as a Senior Consultant, we will support the path that is right for you. You will have access to experienced leaders and development across technical, advisory, leadership and communication skills.

FLEXIBILTY AND BALANCE

We offer flexible work arrangements, modern technology and a genuine commitment to helping our people balance their professional and personal lives.

A CONNECTED CULTURE

Join a professional and down-to-earth team that values collaboration, well-being and having some fun along the way.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

This is a hands-on senior role with genuine client and team responsibility. You will:

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality, client-ready tax and accounting work across increasingly complex engagements.

  • Apply your knowledge across a range of entity structures, including companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.

  • Work through technical matters involving areas such as Division 7A, capital gains tax, trusts, small business tax concessions, GST, fringe benefits tax and tax planning.

  • Research technical issues and form considered views using relevant legislation, rulings and case law.

  • Lead client planning activities and manage agreed deadlines, budgets and workplans.

  • Act as a primary contact for allocated clients, respond to queries and build a strong understanding of their businesses and industries.

  • Identify risks, opportunities and practical strategies that add value for clients.

  • Manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.

  • Assist with workflow, WIP and debtor management for allocated clients.

  • Delegate work appropriately and provide constructive, timely coaching and feedback to developing accountants.

  • Share knowledge, contribute ideas and help continuously improve the way we work.

This role could be right for you if...

  • You enjoy public practice but want greater variety, ownership and client connection.

  • You want technically interesting work without becoming invisible inside a large organisation.

  • You are ready to be trusted with client relationships, not just assigned sections of a file.

  • You enjoy helping junior accountants build confidence and capability.

  • You want a long-term career in regional Australia with a firm invested in the region.

  • You take your work seriously, but do not believe the workplace needs to take itself seriously every minute of the day.

**Bonus points if you hold (or are completing) CA/CPA Qualifications (not a deal breaker if you don't).

What's in it for you?

  • A varied role with real responsibility and ownership

  • Exposure across the full employee lifecycle

  • Opportunity to work closely with senior leaders across the firm

  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities

  • Supportive and collaborative team culture

  • Flexible work arrangements

  • A workplace where your ideas and contributions genuinely matter
