FMA Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Sydney CBD or Cronulla offices. The role involves hands-on work, client interaction and being a trusted part of the delivery team across CFO advisory and Business Services.

You will review financial statements, income tax returns, BAS, IAS and FBT, and support year-end planning and tax calculations. The successful candidate will have CA/CPA qualifications (or be working towards) and at least 2 years in public practice with tax

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a public practice professional services accounting firm.
  • Strong experience in business services tax compliance.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian income tax, GST and FBT.

Responsibilities

  • Be integral to end-to-end delivery of client engagements, with planning, execution and direct client communication guidance from Managers.
  • Review financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals; review income tax returns across entity types.
  • Review BAS, IAS and FBT returns in line with legislative and ATO requirements.
  • Prepare year-end tax planning, reconciliations and support tax calculations and disclosures.
  • Explain financial and tax outcomes to clients in plain English; identify risks and opportunities and escalate as needed.
  • Support due diligence work and client modeling requests; contribute to research and solution-focused outcomes.

With this strategy now in place, the firm is experiencing an exciting period of growth. As a result, we are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant in either our Sydney CBD or Cronulla office who enjoys hands-on work, client interaction, and being a trusted part of the delivery team.

About the Role
  • This is a multi discipline role working across CFO advisory and Business Services, working on management accounts, dashboard reporting, prepare budgets and three-way forecasts, and acting as a key point of contact on ad-hoc business advisory client questions.
  • Be an integral part of the end-to-end delivery of client engagements, contributing to planning, execution and direct client communication with support from Managers.
  • Review financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
  • Review income tax returns across all entity types
  • Review BAS, IAS, and FBT returns in line with legislative and ATO requirements
  • Prepare end of year tax planning, year end reconciliations and support tax calculations and disclosures
  • Work directly with clients to explain financial and tax outcomes in plain English
  • Identify risks, issues, and opportunities and escalate appropriately to Managers or Partners
  • Assisting with transactional work and supporting Partners on due diligence work and client modeling requirements from time to time
  • Develop their research and critical thinking to provide solution focused outcomes for clients
About You
  • Confident communicator who enjoys working directly with clients
  • A curious mindset and a genuine hunger to learn, combined with a desire to build their knowledge and understanding to deliver better outcomes for clients.
  • CA or CPA qualified, or working towards qualification
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a public practice professional services accounting firm
  • Strong experience in business services tax compliance
  • Sound working knowledge of Australian income tax, GST, and FBT
  • High attention to detail with a practical, commercial mindset

This role can be based in either our Sydney CBD or Cronulla office based on your preference.
