Job summary

Hailston Co Chartered Accountants in Camden, NSW, seeks a Senior Accountant to lead a client portfolio and drive value through advisory conversations. You’ll mentor juniors and work with leadership to deliver quality outcomes across the business.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years' experience in public practice.
  • CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion).
  • Proven experience managing client work from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for your client group and building trusted relationships.
  • Reviewing and overseeing the preparation of financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, individuals and partnerships.
  • Preparing and reviewing BAS, IAS, FBT and CGT matters.
  • Managing workflow, budgets and deadlines across your portfolio.
  • Identifying tax planning and business advisory opportunities.
  • Collaborating with team members to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Providing coaching, guidance and technical support to developing team members.
  • Managing scope and proactively communicating with clients around delivery and expectations.
  • Contributing ideas and helping improve internal processes and workflows.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for someone ready to take the next step beyond technical delivery and into genuine client leadership. You'll manage your own portfolio of clients, build trusted relationships, review and delegate work across the team, and play an active role in identifying opportunities to add value through advisory conversations.

You'll work closely with our leadership team while mentoring junior team members and helping drive quality outcomes across the business.

We're after someone who is proactive, commercially minded, organised, and enjoys building strong relationships with both clients and colleagues.

What you'll be doing

About you
  • Fun, friendly and engaging
  • 4+ years' experience in public practice
  • CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion)
  • Proven experience managing client work from start to finish
  • Experience reviewing work and delegating effectively
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities
  • Experience with Xero and cloud-based accounting systems
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and take initiative
  • A genuine desire to mentor others and contribute within a high-performing team
  • Ambition to continue growing into future leadership opportunities
