Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant based in Australia.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of key accounting operations within a fast-growing, fully remote international environment. In this role, you will oversee multi-entity month-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across financial processes. You will play a central role in strengthening financial controls, managing complex reconciliations, and maintaining the integrity of financial records. Working with modern finance systems and cross-functional teams, you will identify operational challenges and implement sustainable improvements. You will also contribute to streamlining subscription revenue workflows and accounts payable processes. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on financial operations while helping drive a more efficient five-day month-end close.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead end-to-end month-end closing activities for assigned entities and accounting areas, including journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
  • Manage bank and cash reconciliations across more than 20 bank and payment accounts, covering multiple entities and currencies, while ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready financial documentation and ensure that all account balances are properly supported and traceable.
  • Monitor subscription billing and revenue workflows, identifying and resolving issues between billing platforms and the ERP system, including synchronization errors, credit notes, and customer tax or VAT data discrepancies.
  • Support revenue recognition processes within NetSuite, troubleshooting workflow and approval issues that may delay financial postings.
  • Oversee accounts payable and expense management processes, ensuring invoices and receipts are properly recorded, transactions are accurately coded, approvals are completed, and payment documentation is retained.
  • Maintain the integrity of balance sheet accounts, including prepayments, accruals, and intercompany balances, while monitoring aging items and coordinating follow-ups.
  • Identify recurring accounting discrepancies and address their root causes through improved processes, systems, and internal controls.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, reconciliation checklists, and documentation to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to accelerate the month-end close and strengthen confidence in financial reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc accounting and financial analysis support, assist with audit requests and process improvements, and contribute to tax return preparation when required.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of professional accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of month-end closing activities.
  • Strong expertise in account reconciliations, financial reporting, and accounting documentation, with the ability to investigate and explain balance discrepancies.
  • Previous experience working with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of multi-entity accounting and multi-currency financial operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing lasting solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing multiple accounting deadlines and deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities in a fast-paced, fully remote, international environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate financial matters clearly.
  • Experience with SaaS subscription billing and revenue recognition processes is a strong advantage, particularly familiarity with Chargebee.
  • Previous experience with accounts payable and spend management platforms, such as Payhawk or similar tools, is considered a plus.
  • Comfortable working within European, Middle Eastern, African, or US Eastern time zones.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual compensation budget of US$98,000–US$118,000, depending on the cost of living in the employee's location.
  • International hiring opportunities, with contractor arrangements or employee contracts available in the United States, European Union, and Australia, subject to local employment and payroll considerations.
  • Equity participation through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), with a potential grant value of up to US$32,400.
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage for US employees, including EPO, PPO, and HSA options.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan for US employees.
  • 35 days off per year, including flexible, self-managed public holidays.
  • Parental leave to support employees and their families.
  • Complimentary mental health and emotional support, including access to therapists through Slack.
  • Peer recognition and rewards platform, where employees can earn virtual coins and redeem them for gift cards, charitable donations, or monetary rewards.
  • A fully remote, international, and flexible working environment built on trust, transparency, autonomy, and results.
  • A supportive and collaborative team culture that values ownership, continuous improvement, and professional development.
