Job summary

SRC Aus, working within Australia’s defence sector, seeks a Senior Accountant to deliver management and financial reporting, partner with stakeholders, and support decision-making. The role involves leading month-end processes, budgeting, and payroll, within a dynamic, project-based environment.

You will contribute to continuous improvement, leverage Xero and Excel for robust analysis, and report to the Finance Director in a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent) with a strong technical accounting background.
• 5+ years' experience in a Senior Accountant or similar role.
• Experience in a project-based environment is highly regarded.
• Strong Excel and Xero experience for reporting and analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop P&L, balance sheet, budgets and monthly forecasts.
• Lead month-end and year-end close with journals and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management reports with performance analysis and commentary.
• Oversee payroll processing on a fortnightly basis.
• Partner with project managers to drive performance and cost control.
• Ensure timely processing of supplier invoices and payments.

Reporting to the Finance Director, as a Senior Accountant you will be part of a high-performing finance team supporting SRC Aus's growing Defence portfolio.

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering management and financial reporting, while working closely with stakeholders across the business to provide key information to support decision-making. This hands-on role offers broad exposure across accounting and business partnering within a dynamic, mission-driven organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Development of P&L, balance sheet, capital and cashflow annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
• Lead month end and year end close including journal entries and reconciliations
• Prepare monthly management reports with performance analysis and commentary
• Oversee payroll services including fortnightly payroll processing
• Partner with Project Managers to drive project performance and cost control
• Overseeing accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments
• CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent), with a strong technical accounting background
• 5+ years' experience in a Senior Accountant or similar role
• Prior experience within a project-based environment will be highly regarded
  
• Strong Excel skills and experience using Xero
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
• A focus on continuous improvement and finance process optimisation
