Job summary

Beca is seeking a Senior 12D Designer to join our Brisbane civil team. You will develop geometric designs for civil infrastructure across roads, rail, stormwater and related works, while ensuring documentation meets target standards and quality expectations.

You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary consultancy with opportunities to lead projects and mentor teammates, supported by flexible work arrangements and a culture focused on growth and innovation.

Qualifications

• Experience as a 12D Designer within civil engineering projects.
• Ability to deliver projects from inception to completion in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Knowledge of relevant Australian standards for earthworks, roadworks and drainage.
• Experience delivering services to internal and external clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare geometric designs and deliverables for renewable energy, industrial, resources, transport & civil infrastructure projects.
• Assist in the preparation of documentation with work completed accurately and to target standards.
• Provide quality service to internal and external clients, escalating inquiries or issues as appropriate.
• Communicate progress and timelines clearly to team members, Managers and customers.
• Consolidate and extend technical skills and show initiative in learning opportunities.
• Lead civil designer on a variety of projects when opportunities arise.

Our National Civil team specialises in the design of roads, rail, bridges, stormwater, and general civil engineering projects. This is a skilled, high performing team that works on a wide variety of projects in the (roads and airports), Power, Water and Industrial, and provides civil expertise around stormwater drainage, earthworks and road/pavement design.

The opportunity

On the back of recent project wins and a strong pipeline of work, our established civil team is expanding and looking for a Senior 12D Designer with general civil experience to join our team.

In this role no two days are the same and you'll: -

• Prepare geometric designs and deliverables for renewable energy, industrial, resources, transport & civil infrastructure projects
• Assist in the preparation of documentation with work completed accurately and to target standards
• Provide quality service to internal and external clients escalating client enquiries or issues as appropriate
• Communicate positively and effectively ensuring that team members, Managers and customers are consistently well informed about progress and timelines
• Consolidate and extend technical skills and show initiative in seeking learning opportunities
• Be a team contributor with opportunities to be lead civil designer on a variety of projects.

About you

You will have experience as a 12D Designer within our key market sectors. This experience will mean you have developed:

• Confidence in your design abilities and a willingness to learn
• Capability to deliver projects from inception through to completion, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary design consultancy environment.
• Design knowledge of relevant Australian standards and practices for earthworks, roadworks and drainage.
• Experience of being in a team delivering services to internal and external customers and clients.
• An understanding of engineering principles is a must.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation -& Navisworks is beneficial but not essential.
• Outstanding communication skills and the flexibility to work across a broad range of technically complex projects.
• Completed or enrolled in an engineering associate qualification level or above.
• A desire to learn new things.
• A desire and ability to train team members in 12d design and civil design generally.

Flexibility, proactivity and an understanding of the importance of teamwork in a consultancy setting are essential attributes in this role. In addition, you will possess excellent communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to display initiative.
