Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is seeking SEN Learning Support Assistants to work one-to-one with pupils aged 5 to 18 who have special educational needs. Roles cover Cambridge across home, community venues and a local centre, with up to 30 hours per week in term time.

You’ll support English, maths and vocational learning, adapt activities to individual needs and help pupils progress toward EHCP targets. A full UK driving licence and access to your own car are required, with travel time paid where

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence and access to your own car
• Experience in a special school, SEN unit, PRU or as a 1:1 for a pupil with an EHCP
• Knowledge of strategies such as visual supports, sensory regulation and low-demand approaches for PDA
• Flexible availability across Monday to Friday, up to 30 hours a week
• Patience with pupils who may need several sessions before they engage

• Provide consistent one-to-one support so pupils can take part in learning and activities
• Follow each pupil's support plan, risk assessment and communication preferences
• Reinforce literacy and numeracy work set by tutors
• Spot early signs of distress and adjust the session before a pupil becomes overwhelmed
• Drive pupils safely to and from sessions where needed
• Contribute observations to EHCP and annual reviews

An alternative education provider in Cambridge needs SEN Learning Support Assistants to work one-to-one with pupils aged 5 to 18 who have special educational needs and are not attending school. You'll support each pupil with English, maths and vocational learning, adapt activities to their needs and help them work towards the targets in their EHCP. Work takes place at home, at community venues and at a local centre across Cambridge and nearby villages. Full-time or part-time, up to 30 hours a week in term time, with travel time paid and fuel reimbursed.

About the Provider

The provider works with local authorities to support young people aged 5 to 18 who are missing education, including pupils with SEND (autism, ADHD, PDA), young people in care and those who are anxious about, or have been excluded from, school. Work is one-to-one and happens wherever the pupil is most comfortable: at home, out in the community or at a learning centre.

The Role
